He has a background in scholarship and education. Most recently, he taught high school English. Previously, he earned his PhD in English from the University of Virginia. He earned his BA in English from Brown University.
In 2018, he published a scholarly article in the Cambridge Journal of Postcolonial Literary Inquiry. As a 2017-2018 Digital Humanities Fellow at the Scholars’ Lab at the University of Virginia, he published several posts related to his research on sentiment analysis and the poetry of the Black Arts Movement.
From 2016-2019, he co-instructed an introductory programming course at Humanities Intensive Learning and Teaching. He was a 2015-2016 Praxis Fellow at the Scholars’ Lab at the University of Virginia, and a 2015 Battestin Fellow from the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia.
He has received scholarships and/or fellowships to attend the School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University (2017), the Summer School on Global Studies and Critical Theory at the University of Bologna (2016), the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (2014-2015), and the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia (2014).
He has presented at conferences like MLA (2019), Digital Humanities (2018), ACLA (2016), SAMLA (2015), and others.
